Shahid Kapoor On Not Releasing Jersey On OTT: We Made It With The Intent Of Being Viewed On The Big Screen’
Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor’s much-awaited sports drama ‘Jersey’ will hit the theatres on next week, on April 14. The cast is busy promoting the film on different platforms. Speaking of that recently during Jersey promotions, Shahid Kapoor revealed rejecting multiple offers from the OTT platforms saying the team is quite confident of what they have made. In an interaction with Pinkvilla, the ‘ Haider’ actor admitted to receiving multiple offers from digital platforms in the past three months.

Shahid shared that the team is very confident about their project as everyone has put their heart and soul into the movie. He further added that everybody loves the film so much that they decided on the theatrical release. He was quoted as saying “We made this film with the intent of being viewed on the big screen. The emotionality of the film is such that it’s best when viewed with a group of people. Fortunately, Omicron finished soon. It was a tough period because the producer’s money was at stake.”

The Kabir Singh actor also mentioned that team is now ‘ready with full power for the film release’. He further shared his happiness to see people making their way to the theatres which helped films like 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', 'The Kashmir Files, and 'RRR' witness bigger audiences in the cinema halls. “It’s great to see people go to the theatres,” he added.

For the unversed, Jersey was initially scheduled to hit the screens on August 28, 2020, but due to the sudden rise in Covid-19 cases and the closure of cinema halls, the makers and team decided to postpone the release date and pushed it to November 5. However, with the increase in Omicron cases, the makers then locked April 14 as the release date.

Jersey is the Hindi remake of the 2019 Telugu film of the same film. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur in pivotal roles.
